While giving his verdict, the Magistrate,  Raheem Wasiu, stated that inasmuch as the offenders were caught dumping refuse in unauthorized areas, hence found guilty for violating the environmental sanitation and waste management laws, therefore they were charged for a fine between ₦5000 and ₦25,000 ranging from the degree of offences while three other persons opted for community services.

It maintained that part of the land, which was designed as a recreation centre since the creation of Bodija Estate, was used to build a mosque and a church, while the government is only converting the remaining land to a modern recreation facility in line with the master plan.

Makinde, who stated this during a visit to the palace of the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, which was attacked by protesters on Sunday, added that unless government at all levels quickly look at what to do to address the challenges facing the country, including that of youth unemployment, the protests, which he noted are the outcome of pent-up anger, might continue.
