The House of Representatives on Thursday stepped down the debate on the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2018 currently before it.

The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, who stated this in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, said the president’s decision to decline assent to the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2018, had nothing to do with the use of card readers.
The Network of Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria has raised concern over the non-assent to the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying it was ominous.
The decision was reached at plenary on Wednesday
Chairman of Committee on Media and Publicity, Abdulrazak Namdas, disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday and said that the House would invoke its constitutional powers if the President failed to sign the Bill.
