I returned from Benin City yesterday with a huge feeling of nostalgia, reminiscing on the fond memories of events that dominated my engagements in 2016, after a fulfilling service as Commissioner for Information in the state. I looked back with nostalgia, reflecting on the time when Senator Adams Oshiomhole was in the saddle in the state. Recalled his fierce quest to see a new Edo, his vehement fear of failure, and his deep level of commitment to ensure that he left footprints of achievements across the state. The Peoples Democratic Party has emerged triumphant in the Edo State local government election held on Saturday. Results released by the state independent electoral commission reveal that the PDP has secured wins in all 18 Local Government Areas.

Leaders of the pan-Esan socio-cultural organisation, Esan Okpa Initiative, and other stakeholders are anxiously awaiting report of the Implementation Committee led by revered Constitutional Law Professor, Michael Ikhariale, to resolve the knotty issue of pruning the load of persons of Esan extraction angling for the Edo State governorship race slated for 2024.
