The state Secretary of MACBAN, Adamu Abubakar, told newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday that Damina was abducted on April 30 by some armed men dressed in army camouflage.
The Command’s spokesman, DSP William Aya, said in a statement in Lokoja on Monday that two AK-47 rifles and 29 rounds of live ammunition were recovered.
A statement issued on Tuesday in Lokoja by the Police Command in the state quoted Ayuba as directing the officers to review their crime fighting strategies to ensure hitch-free celebrations.
The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Ede Ayuba, said the suspects, including a 50-year-old woman, participated in the looting of the state Agricultural Development Project and essential drugs warehouse belonging to the state government.
Ayuba, while parading the suspects at the headquarters in Lokoja, said the command had adopted comprehensive crime prevention and control strategies in recent times to combat criminality in the state.
Ayuba, who gave the order on Wednesday during a visit to the centre to assess the extent of damage, said the perpetrators, believed to be sponsored political thugs, would not go unpunished.
A Government statement issued in Lokoja on Monday said the state Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, presented the cheque covering the amount to the Commissioner of police, Ede Ayuba.
