They are also praying the court to order the government to immediately rescind the suspension order, and compensate them for the violation of their rights.
The President’s position was contained in his statement delivered at the 59th Ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS in Accra, Ghana on Saturday.
He said the president will depart Abuja on Saturday, to join other Heads of State of Government of ECOWAS for the mid-year statutory meeting of the regional bloc, with the exception of Mali which was recently suspended from the group.
Onyeama will be speaking alongside Abdulawaheed Odusile, former President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and West African Journalists Association, now Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ogun State, and a member of the African Union Labour Migration Advisory Committee, Dr. Princess Asie Kabuki Ocansey, from Ghana on June 22 and 23.
It has also directed the immediate dismantling of all illegal security outfits in the country, and warned against the use of these outfits to extort, harass and intimidate Nigerians.

“We are in support of creating an ECOWAS Parliament that has members that will be directly elected into the parliament so that the ordinary people will have a complete attachment with those that represent them in ECOWAS Parliament,” Lawan said.
The meeting is at the instance of the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS and President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.
The President spoke when he received in audience former President Goodluck Jonathan who is Special Envoy and ECOWAS mediator to the West African country.
Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan’s media aide, disclosed the release of the Malian interim president and his prime minister from detention in a statement made available in Abuja on Thursday.
This was just as he bemoaned the spate of insecurity and cross-border crimes such as banditry and kidnapping, which, according to him, are severe threats to the stability and economic progress of most countries within the West African sub-region.
The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to intensify the campaign against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in the state.
