Fayemi spoke on Thursday at the 60th anniversary lecture of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Lagos.
The resignation which was conveyed in a letter to the Governor, dated December 3, 2021, takes effect from Tuesday, December 7th.
Dr Fayemi will be speaking on “Fixing Nigeria for a Better World” at the lecture which will commence at 12 noon at the NIIA’s main auditorium with virtual compliment.
He said investment in education and job creation would help address mass poverty in the land, which according to him, is generating various discontents in insurgency, criminality, banditry and various extremisms.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.
Speaking at the National Unity Summit held in Abuja on Wednesday, the Ekiti State Governor stated that these ingredients were not bad until they were used purposely to cause “structural divisions and stir up negative emotions”.
Speaking while distributing cheques to the representatives of the communities in the 16 Local Governments and 19 Local Council Development Areas, the Governor said the gesture was in fulfillment of his promise not to leave abandoned or uncompleted projects at the end of his tenure in October 2022.
As the country battles insecurity, Dr. Fayemi advocated the establishment of effective and accountable security agencies in pursuit of individual and community security in tandem with state security.
Governors Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State who spoke at different project commissioning events across the three senatorial districts of Ekiti State on Friday also commended Governor Fayemi for the high quality of projects executed and his prudent management of scarce resources.
The summit, according to the organizers, will also provide new perspectives to the issues of equity, inclusion and economic prosperity for Nigerians and in the end, stimulate the process of national healing, understanding and progress.
Dr Fayemi who said a well structured dialogue remains a major pathway to peace and progress said there was nothing heroic in dying for a cause that dialogue and negotiations can help resolve.
Declaring open the cultural fiesta themed: “Celebrating National Unity in Diversity”, Ekiti State Governor and Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Dr Kayode Fayemi, described the annual cultural celebration as a vital tool for integration, unity, economic prosperity and political stability of the country.
Fayemi gave the assurance during the command parade heralding the NAFEST 2021 at the Ekiti state Civic and Convention Centre, Ado-Ekiti.
The Governor gave the assurance on Friday in Ado Ekiti when he received a delegation from the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja, led by Brigadier General Ifeanyi Otu.
The meeting, held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, was chaired by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN).
Prof. Osinbajo stated this late Monday at a High-Level Meeting on Nutrition attended by United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Mrs Amina Mohammed, State Governors, representatives of development partners including UNICEF, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, and convener of the UN Food System Dialogue, Mrs. Olusola Idowu who is also the Permanent Secretary, Budget and National Planning Ministry.
The Governor spoke at a national security summit organised by the National Association of Nigerian Students in Abuja.
This, Fayemi said on Saturday, was in line with the provision of the law establishing the Ekiti State Honours Award.
The Governor performed the turning of the sod of the 1,000 hectares project site Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
