Browsing: Dr. Bukola Saraki

Saraki, in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, described the death of Bukar as one too many coming a few weeks after the Red Chamber lost Senator Ali Wakili.

The Coalition for Truth and Justice in an open letter dated November 30, signed by its National Coordinator, Chief Charles Timothy, and addressed to President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and copied President Muhammadu Buhari, Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said it found the resolution strange, unwholesome and abuse of the extant procedures of the Armed Forces of Nigeria Act 2004 and a subtle attempt to usurp the functions of the Armed Forces Council and the Nigerian Army Council.

In his words: “The role of the National Assembly is quite distinct. You (National Assembly) legislate for the good governance of the Federation; you provide oversight and you also ensure that funds that are appropriated are used judiciously for the purposes they are meant and for the benefit of the people of Nigeria.

The statement reads: “Once again, the issue of offshore company registration which was first raised in 2016 is being revived and thrown to the public space. As a responsible public officer, Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, will continue to explain his position. We know this is the period of politics when mudslinging is a common trick in the game.

Saraki had on Wednesday met with the representatives of Ministries, Departments and Agencies responsible for the welfare of Nigerian students on scholarships abroad, now stranded due to the non-payment of their living allowances and tuition fees by relevant government agencies.
