Browsing: Dr. Adewale Omirin

Wole Olujobi, the Special Adviser to the ousted Speaker, Hon. Adewale Omirin, said in a statement that the APC lawmakers were shocked that a senior civil servant like Esan could not advice the state Governor, Ayo Fayose, and the Speaker, Hon. Dele Olugbemi, about the consequences of their act if they go ahead to inaugurate another set of lawmakers when the term of the current lawmakers has not yet expired

The statement said: “We cannot hold any meeting on the basis of monetary settlement in isolation of the consideration of the constitutional breaches by the governor. It is amazing that the truce terms will not include resumption of our duties‎, but just to settle us monetarily and escorting us out of Ekiti State

Okanlawon expressed disgust at the publication, which reported that a detachment of policemen have been drafted from the Osun State Government House, while a sum of N175 million was given to Omirin and other members of the All Progressives Congress in the Ekiti StateHouse of Assembly in their alleged efforts to remove Governor Ayodele Fayose

Reacting to media reports credited to the factional Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Dele Olugbemi, and ‎the Fayose’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, dismissing the impeachment notice to the governor as a joke, Omirin said the two men were still acting in ignorance of the supremacy of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in nurturing democratic conduct consistent with the universal standard

It would be recalled that Omirin, elected as the speaker on June 6, 2011, had alleged that a team of armed security operatives were deployed to the Assembly’s premises on November 17, 2014 and prevented the plaintiffs from conducting their legislative duties
