An early morning inferno on Wednesday claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman, simply identified as Nnena, in Tudun Kauri, Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Alhaji Dogara Dalhatu, the Chief Fire Officer of Nasarawa State, has said that property worth N61.6 million was lost to fire disasters in the first half of 2019.
Nasarawa State Fire Service Department says fire disaster consumed property worth about N489.4 million across the state in 2018.
Dalhatu told the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Lafia that the service also received two emergency calls requiring rescue operations after some people fell into a river.
Governor Umaru Al-Makura confirmed the figures on Tuesday when he visited the scene of the incident to assess the level of damage.
