These books are never read and thus deny themselves the wisdom, knowledge and understanding to be gained in their Christian lives. We accentuate and prioritise the vain and the unimportant and at the end of the day there is no fulfilment
The bottom-line for a permanent blessing is to tame and control the flesh from its stubborn insistence to go back to the old self. To be victorious in this we have to adhere to Apostle Paul’s wisdom to the Thessalonians church
Here we have to understand that the Bible is whole. We cannot pick and choose the passages that suit our hedonistic fancies. Here God is truly deadpan on adultery and leaves no room for manoeuvring
Are we ready to please man and offend God by wilfully sinning against his precepts? Is God not more than able to make all things abound for the truth teller who is ready to rebuke the high and mighty? Should a Christian internalize truth in order not to offend?
In the Bible, we have copious and panoramic documentation of the sin of bribery
The cry of majority of Nigerians is the desire to know the truth concerning how they are governed. They want to know how much their senators take home. How much is the salary of their governors. They want to know the inner workings of governance through transparency and truth telling. That is a tall dream
Our best attitude on this Easter day should be one of deep reflection, not only of the brutality of his death but also the joy and the triumph of our faith through his resurrection
However, the requirement for all Christians is to trust the rules and precepts of the Almighty and abide by what he says about trust. Let us therefore examine some scriptures and capture the meditative words of God on trust, especially in a sinful society like ours.
