Over the years Nigeria has been on the US watch-list for religious intolerance. I must say, this problem has always been with us, but perhaps it became accentuated with the divisive propensity of the Buhari administration. The blacklisting of Nigeria by the US for violations of religious freedom cannot be argued otherwise. The reasons given by America for its decision are germane – if considered dispassionately.

Nigerian rulers are indeed very special. When other leaders and countries are giving out palliatives to their citizens and bailouts to their production and service sectors to cushion the effects of the current pandemic, our rulers (not leaders) are here inventing more harsh policies to perpetually enslave and over-burden us. The government has just increased the pump price of fuel and electricity tariffs. I mean in the midst of this overwhelming struggle by the citizens caused by their poor economic performance and complicated by the Chinese virus crisis. Yes, things were really difficult here even before the pandemic. Today, businesses are rapidly folding up and millions of jobs slipping away. The prices of food and goods have skyrocketed. People are just desperate and hungry.

Yes, to bring out something from nothing is not natural, but supernatural. I see something coming out that your nothingness today! I think what I want to say here is best explained where the word of God said that He called the whole world into existence from nothing.

I just read a Facebook post by one of my friends, a Kenyan born US-based evangelist. It is a video clip of a church service where Pastor Enoch Adeboye was shown to be combing his hair to demonstrate what God was going to do for the congregation. The lady was so offended that after posting the said video, she followed up immediately with a teaching on the false prophets.

I have explained beforehand my inclination to quote the Bible and I need not repeat the sine-qua-non with the little space I am devoting to this weekly column given the time handicap of the readers. If the readers are ready, I can make this series a daily affair.

My dear, you are going to have the last victorious laugh! Laughing can simply be described as showing joy, happiness, triumph. And it can also show contempt, scorn, ridicule or making fun of. In this message, we will attempt to show that one may go through very scorching trial, mockery and pain before receiving the promise or blessings of God.

Christianity is one religion that could be said without fear or favour to have introduced glamour, grandeur and flavour to the worship of God. Irrespective of whether one is a Christian or not, unless one is hard of hearing would he not be enthralled by Christian’s hymns, songs and all other embellishment that is making Christianity more attractive to the yuppies these days.

In a nutshell, Christianity in Nigeria is defined and sustained by greed, material acquisition, lack of humanity for the sleepy sheep, deception, monetary gain, false prophesy, cuddling up with politicians, hypocrisy, arrogance, complete insensitivity to the needs of the poor in terms of assisting to distribute the fortunes of churches to the poor and the neglected in a poor nation like Nigeria
