The National Commissioner of INEC, Dr. Chris Iyimoga, while disclosing the figures from the 18 polling units in Gwada ward in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, said a total number of 10,243 persons are registered voters with only a total of 1,799 with Permanent Voter Cards
At polling units A and B opposite Christ School Boys, Ado, the presiding officer, who declined to give his name, said the smart card had been able to accredited 12 PVCs as at 8:44am, adding that it took an average of about 10 seconds for a card to be verified
The party pointed out that the fall-out from the test has vindicated earlier widespread calls by stakeholders that the card readers should be thoroughly tested to ascertain their workability for free, fair and credible elections before being deployed for the actual polls
