Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta, who disclosed this during a virtual interactive session with media executives, noted that broadband penetration in the country was less than six per cent in 2015.

Dr. Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, while inaugurating the committee in Abuja, said the current 40.18 per cent penetration should be raised to improve the contribution of the sector to the nation’s GDP.
Prof. Umar Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission, has said that broadband penetration made remarkable improvement as it increased to about 33 per cent as at February.
The Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu on Thursday in Abuja, expressed the ministry’s commitment to attain 70 per cent broadband penetration by 2021.
