Delegates from Canada, the European Union, France, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America as well as the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF) visited key locations and were provided an overview of the coordination and operational challenges related to humanitarian and development programming in the region.

A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Mohammed Abatcha, on Thursday in Maiduguri said the decision was to avoid escalation of violence.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the two months blackout was caused by the destruction of some of the towers supplying electricity to the city from the national grid by insurgents along the Maiduguri-Damaturu Road.

A statement on Wednesday by NGF Head, Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, said the donation was made by the NGF Chairman and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, made this known on Wednesday in Maiduguri while briefing newsmen on achievements of the ministry for the past one year.

Presenting the cheque on Tuesday in Maiduguri, the North East Regional Manager of the Fidelity Bank, Halima Mustafa, said the gesture was part of the bank’s social responsibility and contribution to the fight against the pandemic.

The Deputy Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiduguri on Friday while monitoring compliance with the stay-at-home directive in the state capital.
