The statement reads: My attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly made by me on an interview programme aired on a Lagos Television station (TV CONTINENTAL) on Sunday 7th April, 2013 to the effect that the “Boko Haram sect is working according to the tenets of Islam…one thing is certain, Boko Haram will never be able to Islamize Nigeria and cannot convert President Jonathan from Christianity to Islam.

Nigerians are facing many challenges, perpetual stumbling blocks hindering a smooth transition to prosperity and geopolitical competition. Yet there is none as blaringly obvious as the complacency our national leadership has emanated while our citizens routinely put their lives in jeopardy simply walking to school, attending church or checking in at work
Turai noted that the issue of the Niger Delta region was of great concern to her late husband hence his commitment to restoring peace in the area, which culminated in the granting of amnesty to the militants
Among those killed were two private security guards at the private residence of the state’s Deputy Governor, Bala Ngalari
President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday, set up a committee among the members of the National Security Council to examine the feasibility of amnesty for the dreaded sect members
It is expected to work with the Office of the National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki
The National Security Council meeting, which was attended by Vice President Namadi Sambo; the Ministers of Police Affairs and Defence, Caleb Olubolade and Olusola Obada; the National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki; and the Service Chiefs, including the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, ended without a formal briefing
Former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, who briefed State House correspondents after the meeting, said President Jonathan told them that he was already holding consultations on the modalities for granting amnesty
Onwe said Kalu was only helping to reshape the thinking of Nigerians about the possibility of the involvement of security agents in the bombings, based on the sophistication involved in recent attacks
Information made available by the military said the attack on the home was preceded by an event at a military checkpoint when a driver refused to stop
Iweha said the buildings housing the factories have been destroyed
Igbokwe said in the statement: “We were rudely awakened by the recent discovery of a hideout in Ijora, being used by terrorists and criminal elements as a pad for a possible assault on Lagos
The Kano State Coordinator of the NYSC, Salisu Yakasai, made this known during the closing ceremony of the Batch A orientation exercise
To strengthen that shame on Northern elites, the likes of Aminu Masari (who ate from the palms of former Governor Peter Odili, Nuhu Ribadu, Professor Ango Abdullahi (a former University don) as well as some former members of the Nigerian Armed Forces who are now stakeholders of the Northern Elders Forum, have also lend their voices to the call for Amnesty for the Islamist extremist movement that has killed more than 400 Christians through bombing of churches, straight-faced slitting of the throats of Christian faithfuls while they attended church programmes etc
Whyte said that the demand by Abubakar for amnesty for Boko Haram showed he had lost leadership of the Islamic faith in Nigeria
During the Niger Delta Militancy, the demands were clearly stated and they had to do with unjustifiable perpetual and insensitive economic deprivation coupled with oppressive and socio-economically strangulating environmental degradation
The spate of bombing in Maiduguri, Damaturu in Yobe State and neighbouring towns have not only heightened the fears among the club owners, the safety of their teams have become a source of concern.
To these shenanigans and gold diggers, it is near impossible to accept Goodluck Jonathan and the feeding bottles forcefully thrown away. To compound the problem of those who think that they and their forefathers own Nigeria, Jonathan again was elected president in 2011. This is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Before the election of President Jonathan in 2011, the country was inundated with threats of violence and making Nigeria ungovernable if Jonathan is elected from the likes of Dr. Datti Ahmed, Alhaji Adamu Ciroma and others. Since the massacre started, these two men and some arrested agents of Boko Haram are still walking the streets of Northern Nigeria as free men
The amnesty that was granted to the Niger Delta militants should not in any way translate or equate to same for the Islamist fundamentalist. The agitations of the militants then, to some extent, was germane, save for the violence
This is alien. It is forbidden. We cannot live like this. Something serious has gone wrong in the land. We must do well by returning to the basics
