Dr Spak Shaset, the Chief Veterinary Officer of the State, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Jos, that the outbreak has affected two farms in Jos North and Jos South Local Government Areas of the state.

Dr. Shehu Bawa, the Director of Veterinary Services of the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano that the birds were killed in 49 farms

He said: “As I am talking to you now, 29 farms were depopulated, while 11 samples have been sent to the National Veterinary Research Institute for confirmation.”

According to him, the attention of his ministry was drawn to the development, following massive death of birds at the farm.
He said: “Officials of the state veterinary services took the sample of a bird’s carcass to a research institute in Jos, where it was confirmed that the birds died from the H5NI strains of the Avian Influenza

NAN also reports that the outbreak of the bird flu occurred at Abukur village in Rimi Local Government Area of the state.
Danhassan said the farm of one of their members, Alhaji Garba Dalhatu, was affected by the outbreak
