The Academic Staff Union of Universities has commenced a nationwide industrial action following the inability of the Federal Government to respond to its demands.

In addition, the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union and the “Say No Campaign” vehemently kicked against the proposal to make private institutions and Teaching Hospitals to be beneficiaries of TETFund.

Ogunyemi said scrapping the post-UTME by the Federal Government was a mistake and should, therefore, be revisited with utmost urgency.
He recalled that vice-chancellors and other stakeholders had hitherto complained about the inability to reconcile the high performance of students in UTME in relation to their low performance in post-UTME.
He said: “State governments have been neglecting universities that they established and some state governors are going ahead to establish new ones while those brought to life by their predecessors in office are neglected to rot and die.”
