The Bayelsa Government, on Wednesday, said it had spent more than N70 billion to provide qualitative education through the introduction of a new school system in the state.

Speaking during a press conference, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, told newsmen that the chairmen of the eight local government areas said they were able to reduce an annual payment of N3.912 billion in salaries to the payroll fraudsters in the state from 2016 as a result of the reforms.

Dr. Agatha Goma, the Commissioner for Local Government Administration, stated this on Friday at the ongoing inter-ministerial briefing to mark the sixth anniversary of the Seriake Dickson administration

A source close to the ongoing arrangement informed our correspondent that the UK Government has almost concluded arrangements with the Bayelsa State Government to return $900 million allegedly looted by late Alamieyeseigha to the coffers of the state
