Reacting to a recent media report in which the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, said the sale of the refineries is the best option and that the Federal Government will soon put them on sale, the President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, Comrade Babatunde Ogun, and the General Secretary, Comrade Bayo Olowoshile, warned the minister against heating up the polity of the country with her utterances and carefree attitude

Speaking against the backdrop of a deadline handed down by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to some agencies in the oil and gas industry, the workers said that if the government insists on imposing the IPPIS and its several impediments and hardship on the personnel records and payroll system in the oil and gas industry, they will not hesitate to reciprocate with an unfathomable industrial crisis

On deregulation, Comrade Ogun condemned government’s surreptitious moves to further increase the prices of petroleum products under the guise of deregulation, reiterating PENGASSAN’s long standing position that deregulation could not be import-driven and that the legal foundation and appropriate environment must be in place before the government engages all stakeholders on the issue
