Dr. Ensign, who on May 14 announced her resignation as President of Dickinson College, one of the oldest and most distinguished liberal arts colleges in the United States, had first served as President of AUN from 2010 to 2017 before departing to take up the Presidency at Dickinson.

AUN, whose Governing Council had approved full compliance with the Federal Government of Nigeria’s directive to all tertiary institutions to close down as a precautionary measure against further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, will begin course delivery through online channels with effect from March 30, the Vice President for University Relations, Dr. Abubakar Abba Tahir, announced on Monday.

The first in Abuja on April 7 was attended by the Minister of Foreign of Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, who delivered a message of solidarity for the Rwandans. Also present were the Minister of Communications and Technology, Adebayo Shittu; the Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bulus Lolo; ambassadors and high commissioners accredited to Nigeria; members of the Rwandan community in Abuja, and other dignitaries from many countries

In her speech at the 8th graduation ceremony of the institution, the President of the AUN, Dr. Mergee Ensign, thanked the founder of the university, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, for his sacrifice in nurturing the university to its present status

Olowu, who was active in the Nigerian law practice before going into university teaching, was the Professor of Law and Director of Postgraduate Studies and Research at the North-West University, Mafikeng, South Africa, having joined the NWU in January 2010
