At the grand finale of the table tennis event at 12th African Games in Rabat, Morocco, Peters was honoured by the President of ATTF, Khaled El-Salhy.
For being the best player from Africa to reach the last 32 of the men’s singles at the 2019 ITTF World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, the African Table Tennis Federation has hailed Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri for being a record setter for the continent at global level.
He said: “I must admit that all the African players did their best in the singles, while the extra ordinary outcome was through Aruna Quadri for his superb performance against the top ITTF ranked players like Chinese Taipei’s CHUANG Chih-Yuan and Germany’s Timo BOLL. In my opinion the achievement of Aruna Quadri in Rio will be of great impact to Africa and all players as well as help to break all barriers, raising the ceiling of ambitious player at all World and Olympic title events regardless of their opponents
Players and teams across the globe are expected to feature in the tournament holding at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium from August 26 to 31, with 10 events to be jostled for by the players
