According to a statement by the FCT command’s public relations officer, ASP Mariam Yusuf, the suspect was identified by another victim who confessed to being a member of a notorious phone snatching syndicate operating along the Gwagwalada axis.

According to the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mariam Yusuf, the first suspect, John Jimoh, 26, a member of a three-man phone snatching syndicate, was arrested during a routine night patrol on Wednesday 19th May,2021 along Ahmadu Bello Way while attempting to attack and rob his victim.

Some residents of the area had protested over a suspect who was earlier rescued by the police from an angry mob for knocking down two passengers on Monday 17th May, 2021 leaving them with serious injuries.

It announced in a statement on Monday that proactive measures have been deployed within the city, especially at strategic places such as recreational parks/centres, worship centres and major highways.

The command’s public relations officer, ASP Mariam Yusuf, said in a statement that overt and covert strategies are being deployed to curb banditry and  criminal activities, particularly on the borders of the nation’s capital.

According to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mariam Yusuf, the suspects were arrested while attempting to dispose of a vehicle which they had snatched at gunpoint along Tudun Wada axis of Niger State.

This was as it announced that proactive measures have been put in place, especially at strategic places such as recreational parks/centres, worship centres and major highways, to ensure that residents of the capital territory enjoy a hitch-free Easter celebration.

ASP Mariam Yusuf, the command’s public relations officer, said the suspects were arrested during coordinated intelligent operations between Friday 26th March and Sunday 28th March, 2021 by operatives from Dawaki Division and the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad.
