The court had on Monday ordered the House to maintain status quo pending the determination of the substantive suit filed by the speaker and APC members to stop an alleged plan by the Peoples Democratic Party members to reconvene the parliament before its December 3, 2014 resumption date

Justice Ahmed Mohammed, who gave the order, further directed the Peoples Democratic Party; its National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu; and five other defendants in the matter to appear before the court on that date to show cause why the reliefs being sought by the Speaker should not be granted

“We have heard from the grapevine that the FG is inducing legislators with a view to reconvening the House, but this will amount to piling illegality upon illegality since only a resolution by all principal officers of the House can reconvene the house,” the party said in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed

Tambuwal, who stated this after he was officially admitted as a member of the APC, noted that apart from corruption, the PDP has failed to address issues of youth unemployment and insecurity

The Sokoto meeting was for APC officials to choose a consensus candidates for the state’s gubernatorial and other elections
