The News Agency of Nigeria reports that AFRIMA is a world-class event that holds annually with live performances from star-studded artistes and television broadcast to 84 countries around the world.

According to a statement by the African Union Commission and the International Committee of AFRIMA, made available to the media on Tuesday, the Senegal-born superstar will handle the event proceedings of the live broadcast award show scheduled to air live on over 80 television stations and online platforms across the world with support from the co-host, Sophy Aiida, a Cameroonian-French entertainment broadcaster.
This development is coming after the successful outing of Lagos State when it won the Official Host City rights of the 2016 edition of AFRIMA and showcased the megacity’s international repute as one of the fastest growing destinations in the world through a spectacular hosting of hundreds of international delegates who poured into Lagos for the awards events between November 4 and 6, 2016.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the award of the hosting right was conveyed in a letter written to him by the Commissioner of Social Affairs at the African Union Commission, Amira Elfadil.
Representing AFRIMA at the 14th edition of the music conference and exhibition aimed at connecting business and music to promote culture and economic growth is the Associate Producer, AFRIMA, Adenrele Niyi.
These countries have shown their interest through a competitive overture made available to the African Union Commission, which is saddled with the role of deciding on the hosting right in partnership with the International Committee of AFRIMA.

The new appointees include Charles Tabu, a citizen of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who is a music executive, artiste development professional and the Chief Executive Officer of Jeericho Entertainment Limited.
The African Union and the International Committee of AFRIMA had opened the 2017 AFRIMA Call for Entries on May 8, giving opportunity to African music artistes, record producers, songwriters, video directors and music journalists to enter their qualified works on the AFRIMA website: www.afrima.org, and the awards social media platforms
The AFRIMA 2017 call for entries, which opened on the AFRIMA website, www.afrima.org, on May 8 and ends on July 17, is for Artistes, Songwriters, Music/Entertainment Journalists, Video Directors, Music Producers and DJs from across the African continent and Diaspora in the 33 categories
The 2017 entry submission timeline for the prestigious continental awards will also be revealed at the joint conference expected to have in attendance AU officials, members of the International Committee of AFRIMA, past AFRIMA winners and nominees from Southern African, South Africa Government officials, media executives in Southern Africa and other stakeholders in the creative/entertainment industry in Africa
