“A part of Taraba was once part of Southern Cameroon before they voted to join Nigeria; such people are happy they took that decision and will never toy with Nigeria’s unity and oneness,” he said.
“The unity of Nigeria is not negotiable; those agitating for a divided nation should channel their country toward building a strong and virile nation with opportunities for all,” he said on Sunday in Jos.
Speaking at a special thanksgiving service to commemorate Nigeria’s 57th Independence Anniversary held at Lagos House Chapel in Alausa, Ikeja, Ambode said it was important for Nigerians to realise the fact that the country’s diversity is a strength in itself, which makes the country a truly special place.
Babangida said in a statement to mark Nigeria’s 57th Independence anniversary on Saturday that though the nation is bedevilled with senseless agitations and conflicts, there was the need for careful appraisal of our journey to nationhood.
