Sylva’s aides flee as Idris moves out of Government House

Despite the fact that the Supreme Court is yet to conclude the delivery of the judgment on the five sacked governors over tenure elongation, aides of the Bayelsa State Governor, Timi Sylva, have started fleeing the state capital, Yenagoa.

This was just as information also filtered in that the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, is also putting finishing touches to moving his things out of the Kogi State Government House, Lokoja, the state capital.

Others affected by the sack order are the Adamawa State Governor, Alhaji Murtala Nyako; the Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko; and the Cross Rivers State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke.

Sources told The Eagle Online that the Bayelsa State Secretariat, located on the Mbiama-Yenagoa Road, close to the Government House, became deserted as soon as words filtered in that the judgment was not in favour of the five governors who initiated the suit from the lower courts.

It was learnt that even before the judgment, activities in the secretariat had been at low ebb.

Sources said that most of the political appointees did not show up for work today.

A source added: “Our suspicion is that most of them are in Abuja for the judgment.

“But things are no longer the same here.”

Idris, as first exclusively reported by The Eagle Online last night, is almost through with moving his things out of the Kogi State Government House.

Idris, who was involved in an accident on his way from Abuja to Lokoja last night having got hint of the judgment, started moving his belongings out immediately he got back to the Government House.

More details from the affected states in due course.
