The 2012 Sports Writers Association of Nigeria Electoral Committee has extended the date for the collection and return of completed nomination forms for candidates seeking election into any of the national offices.
According to a statement by the Secretary of SWANECO, Norbert Okolie, a new date of December 7, 2012 is the last day for the return of completed nomination forms agreed upon by members of the committee after due consideration of deluge of appeals from some stakeholders of the association and some contestants at a meeting in Lagos.
The closing date for the submission of delegates’ names for the forthcoming election remains December 10, 2012.
Candidates are directed to send their letter of intent to swaneco2012@gmail.com for access to have both the election guidelines and nomination forms, which they must return to the same address after scanning and attaching evidence of payment of applicable fees and necessary documents.
Similarly on Guideline 11 of the electoral guidelines, the committee stated that all zonal VPs shall be elected by votes of the delegates of the states under the zone they are representing as directed by the National Executive Committee of SWAN, going by the format of the parent body, the Nigerian Union of Journalists.
