The Nigeria Football Supporters Club has debunked reports in some social media networks that it has been banned from the ongoing CAF U-23 Nations Cup Qualifier in Senegal, particularly ahead of Wednesday’smatch against the host country.
President General of the club, Dr. Rafiu Oladipo, while reacting to the development, said none of its registered members had arrived in Senegal yet, thereby dissociating the club from the purported displaying of the defunct Biafran flag during the last group match against Algeria.
“We have never been banned and we cannot be banned as being speculated. Nigerians should ignore the report as there was no truth in it,” Oladipo said.
He noted that all members of his club are ambassadors of the country as against the “unpatriotic fans and spectators that lacked most of our trade-marks such drumming, clapping and blowing of inspirational songs to cheer Nigerian teams to victory”.
He explained: “We have always been good ambassadors of the country and we shall continue to be any day anytime.”
Meanwhile, the club has concluded plans to storm Senegal ahead of Wednesday’s semi final match.
