The Super Eagles will on September 8 tackle the Mena of Niger in an international friendly match in Port Harcourt.
The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, disclosed on Monday that discussions are ongoing with the Rivers State Government to have the match at the Adokiye Amiesiamaka Stadium, the venue where the U-23 team defeated Congo 2-1 in an Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifier on July 19.
Sanusi said: “We are holding talks with the Rivers State Government and the NFF is positive that the Super Eagles and Mena will play at the Amiesiamaka Stadium on September 8.
“The truth is that we still have a few loose ends to tighten before we can say that the match is sealed. Of course, we have confirmation from the Niger Football Federation that they have accepted to play the Super Eagles.”
The letter from the Federation Nigerienne de Football, addressed to Sanusi and dated August 6, 2015, stated: “We write to confirm our participation on the said match in Port Harcourt on the 8th September and our collaboration with Mr. Jairo Pachon, FIFA Match Agent for the success of the organization.”
