The Super Eagles resumed camping in Abuja on Sunday evening for the first time after winning the African Cup of Nations trophy in South Africa in February, with both old and new invitees looking eager to make an impression on the coaching crew headed by Stephen Keshi.
But Keshi said earlier training scheduled for Monday evening at the Practice Pitch of the Abuja National Stadium has now been shifted to Tuesday morning at the same venue.
His reason: “Most of the invited players apart from those of Enyimba and Rangers International played on Sunday evening and they must be fatigued from hurrying to camp.
“So we have to allow them get some rest if we are to get the result that we want from them.”
At the last count, almost all the 24 players invited to camp had arrived, including stand-in skipper, Chigozie Agbim; Warri Wolves towering defender, Azubuike Egwueke; Sunshine stars man in the middle, Godfrey Oboabona; goalie Daniel Akpeyi of Heartland of Owerri; Rangers’ Chibuzor Okonkwo; and the Kano Pillars duo of Gabriel Reuben and Papa Idris.
Benjamin Francis is also in camp.
All the new invitees were also in camp as at the time of this statement by the Super Eagles Media Team.
More players were still finding their way to camp as at lunch time and Keshi said he wanted a full house on Tuesday morning hence the reason for the shift in training schedule.
