Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba is expected to depart the Sea View Hospital Rehabilitation Centre and Home located in New York, United States of America for home on August 25.
The governor’s wife, Hauwa Danbaba Suntai, made this known in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in New York.
Hauwa said that all arrangements had been concluded for the return of Suntai, who had spent some months at the rehabilitation centre, following the injury he suffered after his aircraft crashed in Adamawa State while attempting to land in October in 2012.
Hauwa also expressed the family’s appreciation to all who had in many ways supported them throughout their trying moment.
It was also learnt that some Nigerians living in New York have volunteered to accompany the governor home.
On August 3, members of the Peoples Democratic Party Fact-finding Committee on the Taraba State political situation, led by its Chairman, Senator Hope Uzodinma, paid a solidarity visit to the governor at the rehabilitation centre.
Uzodinma was accompanied by the Special Adviser to the PDP National Chairman on the Independent National Electoral Commission and Inter-party Affairs, Alhaji Shittu Mohammed; the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathn on Political Matters, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak; Senator Abubakar Gada; and the Consul-General of Nigeria in New York, Ambassador Habib Habu.
Uzodinma said after the visit: “We are impressed with what we have seen and we thank God for that.
“We will take back home what we have seen and we will inform the leadership of the party.
“We are impressed.
“We are also happy that the governor is recovering.
“We will still go back home and relate what we have seen.”
Also while in the rehabilitation centre, Suntai spoke with President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo just as he received his colleague, Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State on June 25.
