Sunshine to hit Bamako with 35-man contingent, Wednesday

Nigeria’s remaining representative in the CAF Champions League, Sunshine Stars, will depart Nigeria on Wednesday morning to Bamako, Mali for a date with Stade Malien of Mali in the round of 16 this weekend.

According to the Executive Director of the Ondo State Football Agency, the body supervising Sunshine Stars, Mike Idoko, the state government decided to get more Nigerians to watch the game so that the team will not lack support in Bamako.
“The match is on Saturday and we want to get there early enough because we want to avoid the ugly incidence that happened in our last match with Recreativo Libolo of Angola,” Idoko said.
The team will depart the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos aboard Air Nigeria airline by 8am with a 35-man contingent of 18 players and 17 officials, including accompanying journalists.
Idoko is optimistic Sunshine Stars will scale the Malien hurdle.
“We will not disappoint Nigerians this time around. But we urge them to continue to pray for us,” Idoko said.
