Sunshine Stars ordeal: Adagunodo commends Mimiko, NFF

The Chairman of Ondo State Football Agency, Chief Segun Adagunodo,  has commended the state Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, and the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation for their concern during the ordeal of Sunshine Stars in Bamako, Mali.

Adagunodo, who doubles as the Chairman of Sunshine Stars, said that he was more than happy with both Mimiko and the NFF President, Aminu Maigari.
He said: “It was an experience one would not forget in hurry but we all thank God for his mercy and protection over us. Let me also use this medium to express my sincere appreciation to all Nigerians who showed concern while we were trapped in Mali. Governor Olusegun Mimiko was excellent, he demonstrated once again his leadership quality by ordering that a military jet be sent to take us out of Bamako.
“I want to equally thank Alhaji Aminu Maigari, the NFF president, Sanusi Mohammed, Ademola Olajire and others for showing concern. They were calling frequently during our stay in Bamako.”
Adagunodo however expressed shock with the attitude of the leadership of the Nigeria Premier League.
The ODFA boss admonished the Confederation of African Football to ensure that matches are played only at venues with adequate security and peaceful environment.
The Sunshine boss reaffirmed the readiness of the Club to do Nigeria proud in the on going CAF Champions League.
It is recalled that Sunshine Stars were forced to 1-1 draw by hosts, Djoliba, in the first leg second round match of CAF Champions League in Bamako.
The second leg comes up this weekend at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu Ode.
