The 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, Borno State on Sunday said the early morning explosion in the outskirt of Maiduguri emanated from routine testing of military equipment.
Speaking to newsmen on Sunday, the spokesman of the Division, Colonel Tukur Gusau, urged residents not to panic.
Gusau said: “It is a routine test firing of our weapons to ensure that they are in a state of readiness.”
Residents of Maiduguri had thought the explosions were as a result of attack by dreaded sect, Boko Haram.
