Two suicide bombers early on Saturday targeted the offices of telecommunications services providers, Airtel and MTN, in Kano, Kano State.
But the attempts, which failed to achieve maximum effect as the bomb-laden cars exploded before getting to their targets, left one of the suicide bombers dead.
The first suicide bomber was to hit the premises of Airtel at Mallam Kato Square.
The suicide bomber died in the process.
Another suicide bomber hit the MTN headquarters at Post Office Road about 30 minutes after the attack on the Airtel office.
Security personnel have cordoned off the area.
Spokesman of the Joint Task Force in Kano State, Captain Ikediche Iweha, said: “Some criminals want to unsettle everybody but we are in control of the situation.”
The National Emergency Management Agency was quick to mobilize response agencies to the scene of the early morning explosions.
A statement by the Head of the media, NEMA, Yushau Shuaib, said there were no casualties.
