A suicide bomber on Tuesday struck in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
No fewer than six persons were killed in the attack.
Sources said 20 others were injured in the explosion.
Abdullahi Bego, the Director of Media and Publicity to the Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, confirmed the development.
Bego said the dead have been evacuated to the mortuary, while the injured were attended to by health and emergency workers.
Meanwhile, security personnel have cordoned the area.
In the last three years, suicide bombers have struck several times in the state, particularly in Damaturu, which has witnessed a lot of attacks by the Boko Haram sect.
