The Federal Ministry of Sports on Thursday in Abuja said it had postponed indefinitely the re-run elections of five affected federations.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that five federations were expected to hold re-run elections into their various boards on Thursday after issues were raised about the credibility of the initial elections on June 13.
The affected federations are: Athletics, Judo, Gymnastics, Weightlifting and Taekwando.
Also, Rugby, which elections were cancelled previously, was expected to take part in the re-run elections.
Tolu Makinde, the Ministry’s Director of Press, who made the announcement at the National Stadium, said the postponement was due to “circumstances beyond their control”.
