The Rector, Yaba College of Technology, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, has inaugurated the college Industry Advisory Committee for ICT Skills.
The 15-man committee, chaired by Engr. Olajide Faheed, marks a significant milestone in the college’s commitment to fostering excellence in technology education and bridging the gap between the town and the gown.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Rector declared: “The world we live in today is heavily influenced by information and communication technology.
“It permeates every aspect of our lives, from education and healthcare to business and entertainment.
“Recognising the importance of staying at the forefront of technological advancements, Yaba College of Technology is dedicated to producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also well-equipped to meet the demands of the ever-evolving tech industry.”
The Industry Advisory Committee for ICT Skills, which brings together a distinguished group of industry leaders, experts and educators, will serve as a bridge between the institution and the dynamic tech sector, the Rector advanced.
Dr. Abdul added that the primary goal of the Committee is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, ideas and best practices between Yaba College of Technology and the tech industry.
He said: “With the guidance of these industry leaders, the college aims to create a learning environment that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and the development of cutting-edge skills.”
He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the members of the committee for their willingness to contribute their time, expertise and insights.
He said their involvement reflects their commitment to the future of Yaba College of Technology’s students and the growth of Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.
He acknowledged the hard work of the dedicated faculty and staff who have been instrumental in bringing this committee to fruition and embarking on a journey to empower the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the digital era.
