Super Eagles’ goalkeepers trainer, Ike Shorunmu, has pleaded with the Flying Eagles technical crew and other members to boast the confidence of the team’s goalkeeper, Joshua Enaholo, ahead of their next group game at the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.
Shorunmu opined that the entire members of the team should take the blames for losing to Brazil instead of throwing jibes at the goalkeeper.
He said: “Blaming the goalkeeper now is not the way to go. Instead the technical crew should encourage him to put the loss behind and get focused for the next game.
“Football is a team sport and every player usually have their off days, but the most important thing is how soon are you able to go over it and move on.
“I know Joshua is a promising goalkeeper, so I will appeal to the technical crew to work harder and get him ready for the other task ahead.”
Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles’ goalkeepers trainer, Fancy Ewulu, has accepted responsibility for Enaholo’s dismal showing against Brazil.
Ewulu said: “We are totally disappointed with the loss, it was never planned for. However, I take full responsibility for it as the goalkeepers trainer. We would definitely correct all the lapses noticed against Brazil and we are begging Nigerians not to lose fate in us.
“Joshua is our number one goalkeeper and he would remain so but we are going to psyche him up and get him ready for the next game.”
