No fewer than seven persons have been confirmed dead at the ongoing recruitment of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The Eagle Online learnt that there was a stampede that resulted in the death of some of the candidates at the aptitude test centre in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Reports reaching The Eagle Online from various centres across the country have it that thousands of youths turned up for the exercise.
Photographs available to The Eagle Online from the Jos, Plateau State centre, showed that the turn out was massive.
The same was said to be the situation in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
In Lagos, reports reaching The Eagle Online has it that the NIS officials are finding it hard to cope with the number of applicants that showed up for the aptitude test.
The Eagle Online was also told that several persons have been rushed to the hospital at the Abuja Centre.
The Federal Road Safety Commission has joined officials of the NIS in attending to the victims.
There has been no official response to the development from the NIS as at press time.
