Napoli missed a penalty kick and gifted their opponents a goal before scoring twice late in the game to snatch a 2-1 win over lowly Chievo on Sunday.
The dramatic win means the Napoli keep its Serie A title race alive.
Napoli’s title challenge appeared to be petering out after Dries Mertens saw his penalty kick saved early in the second half and Mariusz Stepinski put Chievo ahead with 17 minutes left.
The Flying Donkeys’ goalkeeper Sorrentino also brilliantly parried Mertens header away from the goal-line and denied Milik subsequently.
Napoli were under intense pressure to score and showed nervousness throughout.
It led to Chievo scoring in the 73rd minute, after some sloppy defending by Emanuele Giaccherini gave Stepinski the chance to put the ball past Pepe Reina.
But substitute Arkadiusz Milik headed in the equaliser with two minutes remaining and Amadou Diawara grabbed the winner in the third minute of stoppage time.
The win left Napoli four points behind leaders Juventus who won 4-2 at Benevento on Saturday.
