The Senator representing Yobe South Senatorial District, Senator Hassan Mohammed, on Thursday indicted the Governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Gaidam, over the abduction of 93 students in Dapchi area of the state.
Hassan, who came hard on Gaidam while speaking about the abduction of the students, said it was “disheartening” to hear the Senate Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, commend the state government.
He said: “This is the primary responsibility of the government: to protect the lives and properties of its citizen.
“The state government of Yobe has serially failed in this regard.
“It has abdicated its primary responsibility in doing that.”
But Lawan got up to challenge him, citing order 53 (7) of the Senate rules.
He said: “If my colleague doesn’t see those reasons and he has his perspective, he doesn’t have to refer to me that what I said is not in order.
“I have my facts, he has his facts.
“I will advice that he states his fact without making reference to me.”
Moving the motion earlier about the incident , Bukar Abba Ibrahim, the senator representing Yobe East, noted that there has been no case of killing.
Ibrahim said: “Nobody is sure if it was a case of abduction or some of the girls who ran home have not yet come back.”
It could be recalled that on Monday, it was reported that Boko Haram stormed Federal Government Girls Science College, Dapchi, abducting several students.
