A top contender for Senate Presidency, Senator Danjuma Goje, has revealed why he stepped down for Senator Ahmad Lawan for position in the incoming 9th National Assembly.
Goje stepped down for Lawan on Thursday after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Goje, reacting to the development through his Twitter handle, said he stepped down for Lawan out of his respect for the President and the interest of the country.
He tweeted: “Today, during my meeting with President Buhari at the State House, Abuja.
“The meeting with the President led to my withdrawal from the Senate Presidency.
“I took this hard decision in the interest of the country and out of my respect for the President.”
