The race for the Senate President for the ninth National Assembly hots up as youths on the platform of North East Youths Development Association have mounted pressure on Senator Danjuma Goje to contest for the seat.
The group, which stormed the National Assembly in a happy mood, threw its weight behind Goje for the seat of the Senate president considering his wealth of experience as former Minister, former governor and the presently Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation.
The group came less than 48 hours after former Senate Leader, Senator Mohammed Ndume, defied the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress to roll out his plans for the ninth Senate if he emerges as president.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Comrade Bello Ambo said the leadership of the association decided to endorse Goje because of his track record in public service.
The group said: “Whey are calling on Senator Goje to contest for Senate president because of the wealth of experience he garnered from his days as Federal Minister, Governor of Gombe State and presently Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation.
“Being a third time Senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria, he has the ability and capacity to lead ninth Senate effectively.
“Considering his wealth of experience as a proven administrator, he is conversant with the rigorous work of the Senate.”
The group assured Nigerians that if Goje is elected, he will serve as a bridge builder considering the synergy that exists between the Executive and the Legislature.
