The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Ibrahim Lamorde, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
President Goodluck Jonathan appointed Lamorder, then Director of Operations of the commission, in acting capacity, when the former Chairperson, Mrs. Farida Waziri, was relieved of her appointment.
Jonathan thereafter wrote the Senate on June 12, 2012 to confirm Lamorde as the chairman.
He is the third chairman of the commission since inception.
The first chairman was Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
The EFCC was created by the government of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
