Senator Abdul Ningi and Simon Nkom were on Tuesday in Abuja elected President and Vice-President respectively of the Nigeria Hockey Federation.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the duo were elected unopposed at the National Sports Federations Elections held at the National Stadium main bowl.
Speaking after the elections, Ningi, who was returning to his post, said he would bring about a new era in the NHF.
Ningi said: “Four years ago we came in, and we have ran the Federation without receiving any money from the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports. And, for the next four years, we will continue the good work.
“We are actually not expecting anything from the ministry, but if they decide to support us, we will appreciate them.’’
He promised to continue to do what he had been doing in the last four years to promote the welfare of hockey players.
Ningi added: “We will also make things better to raise the sport in Nigeria to international standard in this new tenure.”
