Security operatives on Wednesday raided the home of a former Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo.
Sambo was the Vice President during the six-year reign of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as President.
Newsdiaryonline said it gathered that the operatives stormed the residence of the former VP at about 3pm on Wednesday.
The house is located at Alimi Road in Kaduna, Kaduna State.
The credible online newspaper said the operatives arrived the residence in a bus, two Hilux vans and a bullion van.
They raided the house for about two hours.
A family source told Newsdiaryonline that it was a combined team of security operatives, which included an anti-graft agency.
But the online newspaper said a top official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission told it that the agency’s operatives were not part of the raid on Sambo’s residence.
A source in Sambo’s residence later on Wednesday told Newsdiaryonline that the raid was carried out by operatives of the Department of State Services and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission.
The source told the online newspaper: “They came with heavily armed security personnel for two hours between 3pm and 5pm.”
Newsdiaryonline said when its reporter arrived the residence of the former number two citizen, fierce looking security operatives threatened to shoot him and other journalists if they dared moved close.
The source further told Newsdiaryonline that the same team had raided the house of the former VP on several occasions.
The source said: “We are not sure whether this time they found something in the house.
“The presence of the bullion van raised our suspicions.”
Also when contacted, a source close to the former VP said the operatives had raided the house for the fifth time and nothing has been found.
