Security forces have prevented members of the dreaded sect, Boko Haram, from burning a telecoms mast belonging to Airtel.
The attempt by Boko Haram to burn the Airtel mast was thwarted in Ngelzarma village of Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State as the security forces engaged them in a gun battle that lasted for about two hours.
The Commissioner, Yobe State Police Command, Patrick Egbuniwe, confirmed the incident.
Egbuniwe said the hoodlums fled into the bush when they realised that the fire power of the security forces was superior to theirs.
He, however, said the security forces were trailing the insurgents.
No life was lost, Egbuniwe said.
