Security has been beefed up in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, and its environs to ensure a hitch-free burial of ex-Governor of the state, Alhaji Aliyu Doma.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria reported on Sunday that security personnel were seen positioned at strategic locations, including Doma, the home of the deceased.
They include those of the Nigeria Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Bello Ahmed, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, had earlier said on Monday that police personnel had been deployed to strategic locations in the state for the burial.
Ahmed said the police was collaborating with other security agencies to ensure that no law was breached during the burial.
Doma, who died on March 6, in an Israeli hospital at 75, was the governor of the state between 2007 and 2011 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The remains of the formal governor arrived his home town, Doma, headquarters of Doma Local Government Area, at 10am on Sunday.
The burial is slated for 2pm on Sunday, according to information made available on Saturday.
