Ahead of the re-run governorship elections holding in Taraba, Imo and Abia States on Saturday, the Acting Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has promised level playing field for all stakeholders.
The re-run elections are holding sequel to the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission that the April 11 governorship elections in those states were inconclusive.
Speaking with State House correspondents after meeting President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday, Arase said he had briefed the President on the preparation of the police for the re-run elections in the affected states with regard to the deployment of men and materials.
His words: “Well, first and foremost we still have some elections left in about three states and we are doing some massive deployment of men and materials and that is what I came to brief the C-in-C.
“I can assure you that we are going to have a level playing field for people who want to vote on the election day.
“For the deviants, like I said yesterday, they will be decisively dealt with.”
